Cubitt Gallery
Saturday Socials is a friendly, relaxed, collective ( for over 55’s) who meet monthly at Cubitt Gallery to share creativity, ideas, connection and to play. Led by Artist Lucy Steggals and supported by Cubitt’s Community Projects Curator Harri Harrison. It was was established in 2012 in partnership with All Change and North London Cares and continues today through funding from Islington Giving. There is always tea, coffee, biscuits and sometimes there are eggs, pegs, honesty and oranges (HOPE).
2025 ISTHMUS (or Studio 5)

The space between, a neck, a bridge
Spin, connect on a carousel, quietly remember
It’s brain fog, take a running jump on a metal pony
It’s a happy place
Intersections, questions, exclamations and faces
Away from boring life
A transition, where thoughts become strange to themselves
A waiting room between heaven and earth
The city of now collapses
Plants grow into the next ideal
Teetering on the edge, just balanced
Take one thing away and it all crumbles
A magic trick, chaos as it is in this world
Hopefully it will be better in the next
There are fish and peacocks
Everything swings around, its colourful, chaotic
It’s not two big bits
It’s the big bit in the middle and the smaller bits on each side
Holes through words, a poem on a parasol
Let me play, leave us be
Liminal loops, leaping lizards
Lean on loving
